PRESENTING: Wanda Stang / Myrthe Rödelberger / Kerstin Dzewior
LOCATION: ELYS, ELSÄSSERSTRASSE 215A, Booth D7
The works of the three young German artists deal with a kind of eco-feminism. As a part of feminism, it sees the environmental protection and the relationship between women and the earth as the basis for artistic research and practice. The term was influenced by the French writer Françoise d’Eaubonne (1974). She calls for an egalitarian, collaborative society in which there is no dominant group.
For VOLTA Basel, the selected works relate to culture, religion, literature and iconography as well as the potential to reconnect nature. The different perspectives are brought into a dialogue, which allows the viewers to circulate between different levels of reality and perception as well as the dream.
„Eco-feminism can be seen as a combination of natural philosophical, social scientific and historical perspectives to deal with the feminist perspective in front of ecological crisis. It is also an appreciation of the always changing social sculpture and the liveliness of nature.” Nicole Loeser, curator and gallery director
