With more than 100 years of history , the day reflects the numerous historical upheavals of the 20th century. Emerging from a conference of socialist women in 1910, the International Women’s Day was first proclaimed the following year, later banned bu Nazis and reintroduced by GDR as a socialist holiday. in 1977, the UN proclaimed March 8 as “United Nations Day for the Rights of Women and World Peace”. Initially linked to women’s electoral rights, starting in the 1970s , it became an important date for activists working for women’s full equality
